San Salvador, Jun 11 (Prensa Latina) - The spokesman of the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN), deputy Robert Lorenzana said today that the conditions for a coup in El Salvador are being created.

Lorenzana, vice president of parliament, made the warning while analyzing the consequences of conflict between the Legislature and the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court.

Lorenzana’s statements in the Salvadoran Telecorporacion (TCS), the largest television network in the country, were also published on the official site of the FMLN on the internet (www.fmln.org.sv ).

In times like these risks are very high. Some people even believe, and I say this with great responsibility, that the conditions for a coup are being generated, which is very serious, said Lorenzana.

The dispute between the Chamber and the Legislature has worsened since the June 4, when the judges declared unconstitutional the election of 10 judges made by the Assembly, five in 2006 and others last April.

According to the ruling, the same legislature can not choose two-thirds of the 15 members of the Court during its period of three years, as happened in 2003-2006 and 2009-2012.

The conflict is approaching a defining date, June 30, when it expires the period of nine years of five judges, whose relay were elected on 24 April.

If judgments are complied and the Legislature does not make new elections of judges, the Supreme Court will have only the five judges of the Constitutional Chamber from July 1.

The Policy Committee of parliament agreed by a majority on Friday morning to start a consultation process to seek solutions to the crisis.

One of the alternatives considered by members of parties that reject the judgments is to appeal to the Central American Court of Justice, where El Salvador is a member state.
